ABOUT THIS TOUR
From one sea to the other
This beautiful cycling trip spans the narrowest point of the Thai peninsula, crossing from the Gulf of Thailand to the Andaman Sea.
The route begins on the Royal Coast Road, following the shoreline through coconut groves and quiet fishing communities. The terrain is diverse, moving from coastal flats to the dramatic karst formations of the interior.
The mid-point of this cycling adventure features a transition into the prehistoric landscapes of Khao Sok National Park, explored by both bicycle and boat.
The journey concludes with a ride across the quiet island of Koh Yao Noi, where the roads are shaded by rubber trees and the pace of life remains slow. It is an expansive look at Southern Thailands geographical and cultural variety.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does a self-guided tour work? Should I worry about being on my own?
▼
No, and you are not alone out there. On our self-guided cycling tours in Thailand, you follow an easy-to-use roadbook and navigation app with plenty of points of interest along the way: temples, viewpoints, local restaurants, cafes, and more. Accommodation is carefully selected and pre-booked at each stop, luggage is transferred between hotels for you, and a support vehicle with a friendly driver is on call throughout the day if you need a pickup, a spare part, or just directions. The logistics are handled. You focus on the riding.
What does the Bangkok to the Islands tour cover?
▼
A 9-day self-guided route down Thailand's western Gulf coast from Bangkok to Khao Sok lake. The journey passes through Sam Roi Yot National Park, Prachuap Khiri Khan, and finishes with a boat trip on Khao Sok lake. Daily distance averages 79 km with 370 m of climbing.
Is this tour suitable for beginners?
▼
This is rated Sporty. With 79 km per day and moderate climbing, you need a solid base of cycling fitness. If you can ride 60–80 km comfortably in a day, you will manage well. The terrain is mostly flat coastal roads with some undulating sections.
What are the highlights of this route?
▼
A boat trip to the Phraya Nakhon cave temple inside Sam Roi Yot National Park, riding through coconut groves and pineapple orchards along the Gulf coast, climbing Monkey Mountain for panoramic views over Prachuap Khiri Khan, and finishing with a night on the dramatic waters of Khao Sok lake. And some of the hosts along the way also play a big role in making the experience memorable!
Can a stage be shortened if needed?
▼
Yes, by making the most of the support vehicle and riding part of a stage in it. Or if the tour is privatized, Day 2 (89 km) can be split into two shorter stages with an overnight at Khun Jum's beautiful resort, upon request. In the case of a private cycling tour, other stages can be split, or rest days can be added along the way if requested.
What kind of roads does this tour use?
▼
Mostly quiet coastal lanes and backroads running parallel to the Gulf of Thailand, with brief sections on main roads between towns (absolutely NOT busy). Short, beautiful stretches of easy dirt road are present for gravel amateurs but can easily be skipped with our alternative routes. The roads are generally smooth and well-surfaced.
Does the tour include accommodation near Khao Sok lake?
▼
Yes. The final nights are spent at Khao Sok, one of the most scenically striking settings in southern Thailand : limestone towers rising from the reservoir, accessible only by boat. It is a deliberate end to the tour rather than a practical stop.
